God answers prayer according to His will
The first step you need to take is to have faith in Jesus Christ and ask Him to forgive your sins and come into your life. When you do that, the barrier of sin is removed - and God hears our prayers.
What keeps God from giving us what we ask for are -- (1) if we are seeking for something that is not His will and (2) not in His own time. God loves us so much and knows what is best for us -
He won't give us anything that isn't His will and not the right time. And always pray in Jesus' name.
